Huy (Walloon: Hu) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Liège. On January 1, 2004, Huy had a total population of 19,758 (9,529 males and 10,229 females). The total area is 47.79 km/4,779 ha which gives a population density of 413.41 inhabitants per km. Huy lies along the river Meuse, at the mouth of the small river Hoyoux. The population is excepted to break over the 20,000 barrier.

History

In 1818, the construction of a new fort began. The city had suffered dammages during the two world wars, one between 1914 and 1918 and 1939 and 1945.
