Hungarian Socialist Party
The
Hungarian Socialist Party
(
Hungarian
:
Magyar Szocialista Prt
) is a
socialist
party in
Hungary
. It is the successor to the communist
Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party
. If fact, the party split into two:the other half still exists, used to call itself Munksprt, named itself Communist in 2005. MSZP had and still has numerous attempts to break with it's past (like having
Ferenc Gyurcsny
, born 1961, for Prime Minister , the success of attempts is viewed differently from different political sides. It is the largest single party in the
Hungarian National Assembly
at the moment, with 178 out of 386 seats; on a 42.1% share of the vote. It governs in coalition with the
Alliance of Free Democrats
, giving it a slim majority. The party is a member of the
Party of European Socialists
and
Socialist International
.
