Hudson Soft

Hudson Soft is a Japanese publisher and developer, founded on May 18, 1973. Although it already started to sell PC-related products in 1975 it wasn't until 1984 when Hudson began to produce videogames for the Famicom (NES) that the company enjoyed notable success. Hudson's first Famicom title, Lode Runner, sold 12 million units. Hudson also made a joint venture with NEC to make the Turbografx-16 (North America) and PC Engine (Japan) family consoles. The PC Engine was successful in Japan, second only to Nintendo's Famicom, but the console was poorly marketed in the States and therefore very few games were translated. After a long history of producing games for Nintendo's consoles, Hudson teamed up with NCL and founded the joint venture Manegi Corporation in May of 1998. As a developer Hudson Soft has become known as a company that focuses on quality games with excellent gameplay. Hudson Soft is well known to hardcore gamers who often keep a constant look-out for games made by Hudson Soft since its likely that a Hudson Soft game will have high quality gameplay. Hudson's best-known game franchise to date is the Bomberman series, which has appeared on all major platforms. As of 2003, the company employed a staff of more than 400. They have recently re-released some of their first hit games for the Nintendo GameCube in Japan including Adventure Island, Star Soldier, and Lode Runner. List of Hudson Soft Games
