Hortobgy

Hortobgy, in other words, the Puszta, is a part of Alfld (Great Plain) in eastern Hungary, near Debrecen. It is a national park today (since 1973), Hungary's largest protected area, elected among the World Heritage sites. It is like a steppe, a grassy plain with cattle, sheep, oxen, horses, and of course herdsmen, and it provides habitat for various different species (among birds, 342 species have been registered to appear). Its emblematic sight is the Nine-holed Bridge, and this is the place for traditional sweepwells. Visitors might find mirage as well here.
