Horseferry Road Magistrates' Court

Horseferry Road Magistrates' Court in Westimster, London, is one of the three magistrates' courts of the central region of Great London. The court sits (has hearings) weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the UK legal system, magistrates hear and dispose of prosecutions for summary offences; and committals to higher courts for indictable offences. Owing to its central location, Horseferry Road Magistrates' Court hears a disproportionate number of high profile cases and regularly features as the backdrop to news reports on UK television. The court building, designed by C. A. Legerton and opened in 1974 is red-brick, functional and "of minimal personality and minimal expression of function and purpose", according to Pevsner.
