Geography Homeacre-Lyndora is located at 40°52'10" North, 79°55'14" West (40.869461, -79.920460). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.3 km² (6.7 mi²). 17.3 km² (6.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 6,685 people, 3,077 households, and 1,867 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 386.4/km² (1,001.2/mi²). There are 3,260 housing units at an average density of 188.4/km² (488.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.77% White, 0.66% African American, 0.03% Native American, 0.69% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.67% from two or more races. 0.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 3,077 households out of which 21.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.7% are married couples living together, 8.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% are non-families. 35.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.14 and the average family size is 2.77. In the CDP the population is spread out with 18.0% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 25.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 92.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.8 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $32,819, and the median income for a family is $43,136. Males have a median income of $36,804 versus $23,537 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $20,705. 8.3% of the population and 7.2% of families are below the poverty line.
