Holly Pond is a town located in Cullman County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 645.

Geography

Holly Pond is located at 34°10'29" North, 86°37'1" West (34.174657, -86.617004). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 8.9 km² (3.4 mi²). 8.9 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 645 people, 250 households, and 182 families residing in the town. The population density is 72.4/km² (187.3/mi²). There are 280 housing units at an average density of 31.4/km² (81.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.67% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.40% from other races, and 0.31% from two or more races. 3.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 250 households out of which 36.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.2% are married couples living together, 9.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% are non-families. 22.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.06. In the town the population is spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 11.5% from 18 to 24, 31.5% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 104.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.1 males. The median income for a household in the town is $28,182, and the median income for a family is $31,875. Males have a median income of $27,708 versus $19,432 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,466. 19.5% of the population and 12.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 26.9% of those under the age of 18 and 29.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
