Holden Nova

The Holden Nova was a rebadged version of the sixth- and seventh-generation Toyota Corolla automobile, sold in Australia between August 1989 and 1996. Unlike the Corolla, the Nova was sold only as a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback. The LE and LF series (sixth-generation Corolla) was sold between 1989 and 1993. The LG Nova (seventh generation) was sold between 1994 and 1996. In all years, the Nova was outsold by the Toyota Corolla in Australia. The Nova was replaced by the Holden Astra in 1996.

Model offerings

The LE was offered with Toyota's 14 (hatchback only) and 16 L engines, in Holden's traditional SL (hatchback only), SL/X and SL/E trims. The LF, from October 1991, added fuel injection to the 16 L units. The SL/E hatchback was replaced by a GS model, although SL/E continued as a trim on the sedan. From October 1992, a fuel-injected 18 L engine was offered for the GS hatchback. The 14 L option and the SL/Es were deleted for 1993. A smaller range was offered for the LGs in 1994. The SL/X trim meant a 16 L engine was equipped, while GS denoted the 18 L. Four- and five-door options were offered for both trim levels. Fuel injection was standard throughout the range. Nova
