Hokuriku Region
Hokuriku region
(北陸地方, literally North Land) is the region along the
Sea of Japan
within the
Chubu region
, the central region of
Honshu
, the main island of
Japan
. The variously defined region includes the prefectures of
Toyama
,
Ishikawa
and
Fukui
, and may include
Niigata Prefecture
as well. In the former case, Niigata Prefecture and
Nagano Prefecture
form the
Shin'etsu region
and together with Hokuriku region comprise Hoku-shin'etsu (literally North Shin'etsu).
