Hexagram

For other uses of the word hexagram, see Hexagram (currency) or Hexagram (I Ching).
A hexagram (also known as "sexagram") is a six-pointed star, a type of complex star polygon. It is usually symmetrical, formed by two overlapping equilateral triangles. One version of the hexagram is the Star of David, a traditional Jewish symbol. Some cultures say that the triangle pointing downwards represents female sexuality and the triangle pointing upwards represents male sexuality. The combination represents unity and harmony. In alchemy, the two triangles represent the reconciliation of the opposites of "fire" and "water". The hexagram, like the pentagram, was and is used in practices of the occult as well as Satanism. The G2 root system is in the form of a hexagram. See also: pentagram.
