HerdaliaHerdalia, or Hrjedalen, is a historical Province or landskap in the north of Sweden. It borders to Dalecarlia, Helsingia, Medelpadia, Jemtia and to Norway. History Main article: History of Herdalia The legend has it that province is named after a powerful but lawless man named "Hrje", who escaped the arm of the law of the Norwegian king by settling in the remote valley. The name Hrjedalen literally means the "Valley of Hrje". The province was ceded to Sweden by Denmark-Norway in the Treaty of Roskilde, 1658.
