Henry Ring

Henry Ring (born March 16, 1977, in Franklin, Tennessee) is a soccer goalkeeper, who currently last played for the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer. After playing college soccer at the University of South Carolina, Ring was drafted by the Chicago Fire in the third round of the 2001 MLS SuperDraft. With Zach Thornton firmly entrenched in the Fire's net, Ring did not see any time in his first season with the team, and only played in one league game each of the following two years. In 2004, Thornton left for the Portuguese club Benfica, opening the door for Ring. Although the Fire acquired highly-touted US youth international D.J. Countess, Henry won the starting job and played in 28 league games, recording seven shutouts and starting for the East in the MLS All-Star Game. Even Thornton's return to the club late in the season did not unseat Ring during the season; it took the offseason for Ring to be dealt to F.C. Dallas for a draft pick. However, Dallas chose not to sign him, and after an unsuccessful tryout with the MetroStars, Ring seems teamless, amazing after such an outstanding season. Ring, Henry Ring, Henry Ring, Henry
