Henry Peach RobinsonHenry Robinson (1830-1901) made combination prints that joined multiple negatives to form a single image. At the age of thirty-four, he was forced to give up his medium because of a condition brought on by exposure to toxic chemicals used in the photographic process. However, Robinson continued his involvement, writing the influential essay Pictorial Effect in Photography, Being Hints on Composition and Chiaroscuro for Photographers, published in 1868. In 1891, he helped found the photographic society, the Linked Ring.
