The total area is 1.52% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 4,433 people, 1,585 households, and 1,019 families residing in the town. The population density is 38.8/km² (100.5/mi²). There are 1,679 housing units at an average density of 14.7 persons/km² (38.0 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.64% White, 0.45% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.99% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.38% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. 0.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,585 households out of which 37.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.3% are married couples living together, 9.1% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 35.7% are non-families. 26.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 3.09. In the town the population is spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 16.8% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 103.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.2 males. The median income for a household in the town is $50,288, and the median income for a family is $59,527. Males have a median income of $39,583 versus $27,243 for females.
