Hau Giang Province

Hau Giang Province (old) became Can Tho province during/after 1975. Can Tho City was the cpaital of Can Tho Province. In late 2004, Can Tho City and some surrounding cities became Can Tho Municipality (Thanh Pho Can Tho). The remainder of Can Tho Province (old) became Hau Giang Province (new). Vi Thanh is the capital of Hau Giang Province. It has an industrial zone of 88 hectares (217 acres). There are roads, National Highway 61 (which leads to National Highway 1 which leads to Can Tho Municipality on he Hau River which leads to Ho Chi Minh Municipality), and water connections by canal and river to the Hau River.
