Harry MorganHarry Morgan (born April 10, 1915, Detroit, Michigan) is an American television actor. He is best known as Colonel Sherman Potter on M*A*S*H. Family Born as Harry Bratsburg, his grandparents where immigrants from Norway. Married twice, first to Eileen Detchon from 1940 to her death in 1985, and to Barbara Bushman Quine from 1998 to present. He had four sons with his first wife, Christoper, Charles, Paul and Daniel. Daniel died in 1982. Career He made his debut, originally using the name Henry Morgan, in the 1942 movie To the Shores of Tripoli. Morgan continued to play a number of significant roles on the big screen over the next decades in movies like Dragonwyck in 1946, The Glenn Miller Story in 1953, Inherit the Wind in 1960 and Support Your Local Sheriff in 1969. On TV he played Bill Gannon, Joe Friday's partner, on Dragnet and Pete in Pete and Gladys. In the third season episode The General Flipped At Dawn of the televison show M*A*S*H he played a crazed colonel who wanted to move the 4077 closer to the front line, before finally joining the show in season 4 as the beloved Colonel Sherman Potter. In 1980 Morgan won an Emmy award for his performance on M*A*S*H In the 1990th he played the role of Judge Stoddard Bell in The Incident series of TV movies.
