Hampton Manor, New York

Hampton Manor is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Rensselaer County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,525. Hampton Manor is in the Town of East Greenbush and is a suburb of the City of Rensselaer and the City of Albany.

Geography

Hampton Manor is located at 42°37'8" North, 73°43'33" West (42.618846, -73.725704). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.08% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,525 people, 1,040 households, and 690 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,547.5/km² (4,002.3/mi²). There are 1,079 housing units at an average density of 661.3/km² (1,710.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.37% White, 1.70% African American, 0.16% Native American, 1.70% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races. 0.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,040 households out of which 32.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% are married couples living together, 13.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% are non-families. 28.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.97. In the CDP the population is spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 91.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.5 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $42,794, and the median income for a family is $46,818. Males have a median income of $32,022 versus $30,694 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $21,589. 1.3% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 4.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
