Hms Defence (1763)

HMS ''Defence was a 3rd rate ship of the line of 74 guns, built in 1763 for the Royal Navy. She fought at the battles of Cape St. Vincent in 1780, Cuddalore in 1783, the Glorious First of June, the Nile, Copenhagen and Trafalgar, where she captured the Spanish ship San Ildefonso''. She ran aground on 24 December 1811 and all but five of crew perished.
