Hms Ajax (1798)

HMS ''Ajax, launched in 1798, was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. She fought at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. During the battle she assisted Orion in forcing the surrender of the French seventy-four Intrpide''. The Ajax was destroyed in an accidental fire while serving in the Dardenelles in 1807 as part of a squadron under Admiral Sir John Duckworth. See HMS Ajax for other ships of this name. Ajax
