black basses
, it occurs solely in several rivers on
Edwards Plateau
in
Texas
, including the
Guadalupe
.
M. treculii
reaches a maximum recorded length of 46
cm

in
) and a maximum recorded weight of 1.7
kg
(3.7
lb
). A rare species, the Guadalupe bass was formerly classified as Vulnerable, but
IUCN
currently considers the data insufficient to determine its status. It is the state fish of
Texas
.
