Greatest ConjunctionGreatest Conjunction is a term applied in astronomy to the meeting of the planets Jupiter and Saturn during their opposition period. At a greatest conjunction Jupiter and Saturn come three times together in conjunction in a period of a few months. The so-called "Star of Bethlehem" of 6BC/7BC was possibly a Greatest Conjunction. The occurrence of a Greatest Conjunction is rare, and shows no short period. The last greatest conjunctions took place in 1940/41 and 1981. The next greatest conjunction will be first 2238/39.
