Grasonville, MarylandGrasonville is a census-designated place located in Queen Anne's County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,193. Geography Grasonville is located at 38°57'46" North, 76°12'12" West (38.962875, -76.203305). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.5 km² (5.2 mi²). 12.1 km² (4.7 mi²) of it is land and 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 10.56% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,193 people, 845 households, and 588 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 181.3/km² (470.0/mi²). There are 948 housing units at an average density of 78.4/km² (203.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 69.49% White, 28.77% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.78% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 1.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 845 households out of which 30.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.6% are married couples living together, 15.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% are non-families. 24.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.01. In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 27.8% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.1 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $38,214, and the median income for a family is $48,704. Males have a median income of $37,566 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $18,179. 16.7% of the population and 11.6% of families are below the poverty line.
