Granada Sky Broadcasting

Granada Sky Broadcasting is a wholly-owned subsidary of ITV plc. As of November 2004 the company broadcasts just one channel, Men and Motors (originally known as Granada Men and Motors). GSB was set up in 1996 as a joint venture between Granada Television and British Sky Broadcasting to launch a range of television channels broadcasting the Granada archive on the Sky Satellite system. The channels that launched in October of that year were Granada Plus, Granada Men and Motors, Granada Talk TV and Granada Good Life. In August 1997 Granada Talk TV was shut down, and in May 1998 Granada Good Life became Granada Breeze in an attempt to improve ratings. However in May 2002 Breeze too was closed. On 1st November 2004, ITV plc announced the acquisition of BSkyB's stake in GSB. As part of this deal with BSkyB (which also allowed Sky to carry ITV3 on digital satellite on it's launch that day), Plus (formerly Granada Plus) was closed by GSB. Men and Motors continues, but will be subject to a review. As part of the deal, Sky would receive 49.5% of any proceeds, net of liabilities, from any sale of Men and Motors.
