Gotlandia Infantry RegimentGotlandia Infantry Regiment, or Gotlands infanteriregemente, also I 18 or I 27, is a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traces its origins back to the 19th Century. It was reorganized into an armoured regiment in 1963. History The regiment traces its origins back to 1811 when it was decided to organize the unit Gotlandia National Conscript (also National Conscript at Gotland) after having experienced the Russian occupation of the island in 1808-1809. The unit was 6,781 men strong and consisted of three artillery companies and 43 companies of infantry and rangers. The unit was reformed into Gotlandia Infantry Regiment and Gotlandia Artillery Corps in 1887 and the infantry regiment gained the designation I 27 (27th Infantry Regiment). It was organized into Gotlandia Infantry Corps between 1928 and 1937, when it got its regimental name back. It was also redesignated I 18 in 1928. Gotlandia Infantry Regiment was reorganized into the armoured Gotlandia Regiment in 1963. Campaigns Organization 1861 - Norra bataljonen
