Gotha (Town)

Gotha is a town in Germany. It is located at 50 55 min north / 10 43 min east, in the Bundesland of Thuringia (German Thringen). It is the capital of the District of Gotha. Its current population is approximately 46,000. The oldest record of the city dates to the year 775. The Arnoldischule school (named after the first insurance salesman, Ernst Wilhelm Gotha) has made a partnership with Gastonia, North Carolina as a part of the Sister Cities program. In 1875 the SDAP and the ADAV merged to form the SAPD, what is today the SPD at the Socialist Unity Conference in Gotha: their manifesto was the Gotha programme and it called for "universal, equal, direct suffrage".
