Goldenrod City is the largest city in the Johto region. It is Johto's rough eqivalent to Celadon City. There are plenty of things to do here in this city. The gym leader here is Whitney, a trainer who specializes in Normal-type Pokmon. Team Rocket will start coming into the city as the game progresses. After you win your 7th badge, Team Rocket will take over the radio tower; and its broadcasts will all be directed to contact Giovanni. Bill has family here in Goldenrod City and will not be at the Sea Cottage in the Gold and Silver versions. The name rater is also here too. Also, the egg you recieved from Professor Elm in Violet City should hatch into a Togepi within the city if you carried it within your party the whole time.

Goldenrod City Department Store

The Goldenrod Department Store is packed full of key items. If players are playing from a Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance, the mystery gift option should become available after talking to a girl on the fifth floor. On Sundays in the game, a woman comes to the department store to hand out TMs on the fifth floor based on your Pokmon's affection is. The department store should be your first stop in Goldenrod City.

Radio Tower

Trainers must visit this unique icon of Goldenrod City. This is where trainers can get a free radio card by answering trivia questions. Come here often for the lucky number drawings!!! Team Rocket will take over the Radio Tower after you win the 7th badge.

Goldenrod City Underground

An underground alley, this is a home to curious shops and trainers waiting to do battle. The entrances to the underground are located in the Northwest and Southwest corners of the city. There is a second part to the underground where Team Rocket will hold the radio director hostage and where you will fight your Gold/Silver rival. Amazingly enough, the exit to the second part of the underground will be in the basement of the Goldenrod Department Store.

Game Corner

Unlike the game corner of the Red/Blue/Yellow versions, this Game Corner is not affiliated with Team Rocket. There are the classic slot machines here and the new "card flip game" is introduced.

Magnet Train Station

This station is for the high-speed train that connects this city with Saffron City. Though it is not available yet, it will be available later on in the game.

Bike Shop

The bike shop from Cerulean City has moved here, but no one can find it. The owners will give you a bike to advertise where the shop is.

Affection Rater

A house in the Eastern part of Goldenrod City, a woman will rate your lead Pokmon's affections toward you.
