Gnutls

GnuTLS, the GNU Transport Layer Security Library, is a free software implementation of the SSL and TLS protocols. GnuTLS is primarily licensed under the Lesser GPL; some parts are licensed under the GPL. GnuTLS is comparable to OpenSSL, but OpenSSL's license is not compatible with the GPL http://www.gnome.org/~markmc/openssl-and-the-gpl.html. As GnuTLS's licensing is compatible with the GPL, it is used in software like GNOME, Centericq, Exim, Mutt, Slrn and Cups. GnuTLS version 1.2.0 was released on 27 January 2005 http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnutls-dev/2005-January/000818.html.
