Glendale Arena
The
Glendale Arena
is an
indoor arena
located in
Glendale, Arizona
, in the suburbs of
Phoenix, Arizona
. The
arena
is home to the
Phoenix Coyotes
of the
NHL
and the
Arizona Sting
of the
NLL
. Completed in
2003
, the arena cost $180 million. It seats 17,500 for
ice hockey
. The arena replaced the
America West Arena
, as the home for the Coyotes, AWA which was originally built for
basketball
, and had to be quickly retrofitted for hockey- in fact, a small section of seats actually hung over the boards at one end of the ice - making it only a temporary solution to the Coyotes housing woes.
