Gisela Stuart

Gisela Gschaider Stuart (November 26, 1955) is the member of Parliament for Birmingham Edgbaston in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the Labour Party. She was born in Velden, Germany. She was the first person to gain a seat in the 1997 general election, and her victory heralded the landslide of the night of May 1, 1997. She was a junior minister until 2001. She sat on the European Convention's 13-strong presidium or steering group, and complained that the draft European Constitution was drawn up by a "self-selected group of the European political elite" determined to deepen European integration.
