Gichin Funakoshi

Gichin Funakoshi (船越 義珍 Funakoshi Gichin, 18681957) was the founder of the karate style Shotokan. He was born in Okinawa. Gichin Funakoshi was the little school teacher who brought karate from Okinawa to mainland Japan. His autobiography is called Karate-do: my way of life.
