Gianna Angelopoulos–daskalakiGianna Angelopoulos - Daskalaki was born December 12, 1955. She studied Law at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. She actively pursued a political career. In 1986, she was elected Councilor in the Municipality of Athens. She was elected Member of Parliament in the Athens first Region Constituency for the New Democracy Party twice; in November 1989 and in April 1990. In 1990, she resigned as a Member of Parliament after her marriage to businessman Theodore Angelopoulos. Since then she has been actively involved in the shipping business. She is a member of the Athens Bar Association. In 1994, she was named Vice - Chair of Harvard University's "John F. Kennedy School of Government". In 1996, she was appointed President of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Bid Committee. In 1998, she was appointed Ambassador at Large by the Greek State. As of May 2000, she was elected as President of the ATHENS 2004 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games. Gianna Angelopoulos - Daskalaki has three children: two sons and a daughter.
