Ghatam

A ghatam is a South Indian percussion instrument. It is nothing but an earthenware pot; the artist uses his hands to hit the outer surface of the walls of the ghatam, and uses his belly to cover the mouth of the pot, control the tuning. It is usually accompanied by a mridangam.
