Gerrards Cross
Gerrards Cross
is a large
village
in
Buckinghamshire
,
England
. It is located in the very south of the county, near the border with
Middlesex
, south of
Chalfont St Peter
. The village name is fairly new, when compared to other villages that surround it. It is named after the Gerrard family that, in the early
17th century
, owned a
manor
here. At that time it was a
hamlet
in the
parish
of Chalfont St Peter. Today Gerrards Cross is a very upmarket village in the
commuter belt
of
London
, and house prices are extremely high here. The
parish
church
is dedicated to
St. James
. Its station,
Gerrards Cross
, on the
Chiltern Line
provides its rail link to
London Marylebone
.
