George Sargent

George Sargent (1859-1921), his wife Charlotte Sargent and Foster Sargent were the founders of Sargent's Meat Pies in 1906. They started selling pies for a penny in a small shop in Paddington, New South Wales in 1899. In 1927 over 10,000 pies needed to be buried as they were left-over from the opening of the Old Parliament House in Canberra. George and Charlotte are both buried in Waverley Cemetery.
