Gayatri Devi

Third Her Highness Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur, Princess of Cooch Behar. Gayatri Devi was born into the royal family of Cooch Behar, this granddaughter of the Maharaja of Baroda was an international society icon in the early twentieth century, and married the dashing athlete, H.H. Maharaja Sawai Man Singh of Jaipur. After Partition and Independence Day in India in 1947, and later the abolition of Royal India in 1970, Gayatri Devi ran for Parliament and won in the world's largest Guinness-confirmed landslide. She is now the (deposed) Queen Mother of Jaipur. She was considered one of the top ten most beautiful women in the world by Vogue magazine in her prime. Also known as Ayesha.
