Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is an organization intended to promote and ensure fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation. It was founded in 1985 in New York. The organization annually hosts the GLAAD Media Awards to honor members of the media who have made a significant difference in promoting equal rights for LGBT people.
