Garnisonen I Porsanger

Garnisonen i Porsanger, based at Porsangmoen, is the world's northernmost military camp. It is a ranger team part of the Norwegian 6. divisjon, and formerly a part of the Finnmark regiment, together with Garnisonen i Sr-Vardanger and Alta Bataljon. Jegerbataljonen (Ranger`s battalion, approximate strength about 100 conscripts, enlisted and officers) is based here, as well as an officer`s training centre for the Home Guard. The camp is located immidiately adjacent to Halkavarre, one of the largest military training areas in Norway.
