German
Prussian
gymnastics
educator and patriot. Jahn studied at the
University of Greifswald
. After taking his degree, he founded the
turnverein
movement in
1811
and invented
parallel bars
,
balance beam
,
gymnastics rings
,
vaulting horse
and the
borizontal bar
. He is often described as the "father of gymnastics".
