Friedrich Ludwig Jahn

Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1778 - 1852) was a German Prussian gymnastics educator and patriot. Jahn studied at the University of Greifswald. After taking his degree, he founded the turnverein movement in 1811 and invented parallel bars, balance beam, gymnastics rings, vaulting horse and the borizontal bar. He is often described as the "father of gymnastics".
