Frederick Augustus II of Saxony, whose full name was His Majesty Friedrich August II Albert Maria Clemens Joseph Vincenz Aloys Nepomuk Johann Baptista Nikolaus Raphael Peter Xaver Franz de Paula Veneantius King of Saxony, (May 18, 1797 - August 9, 1854) became King of Saxony in 1836. Son of Prince Maximilian of Saxony and Princess Caroline of Bourbon-Parma. On September 26, 1819 Frederick Augustus II married Archduchess Caroline of Austria, daughter of Emperor Francis I of Austria. Following her death, on April 24, 1833 he married Princess Marie Anne Leopoldine of Bavaria. There were no children of either marriage. He was succeeded by his brother, Johann I. In 1849 revolutionary disturbances broke out in the Kingdom, forcing Frederick Augustus to flee to Knigstein fortress.
