Fred Gallagher

Fred Gallagher is a comic artist, or manga-ka, as many call him. He refuses to accept the title of manga-ka, however, claiming that he is not skilled enough to warrant such a title. Still, many of his fans consider him such an artist. He is best known as the co-creator and artist of Megatokyo. He also goes by the name of Piro, the name of the main character of Megatokyo that he loosely based off of himself. He took this name from the name of the cat in the ren'ai game Kanon. Gallagher has traveled to Japan several times but, contrary to popular belief, is not fluent in Japanese. http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=341 Though often praised for his artwork and storylines, he has also been criticized for allegedly having a rather lax work ethic and an unreliable update schedule. Other critics argue that this is unacceptable, given that the comic is Gallagher's only formal job. He attended Otakon from 2001 to 2003.
