France 5

France 5 is a public television network in France that mainly features educational programming. Its motto is la chane de la connaissance et du savoir, the network of knowledge and science. In contrast to France 2 and France 3, the main networks of the France Tlvisions group, it does not feature sitcoms or dramas, but rather documentaries and panel shows. France 5 is available on cable all the time, but over the air the programming is replaced with Arte during the evening. France 5 used to be called La Cinquime until January 2002.
