Fortunate Isles

Fortunate Isles, also called Isles of the Blest (makarn nsoi). Favored mortals in classical and Celtic legend were received by the gods into this blissful paradise. These islands were thought to lie in the Western Ocean; the Madeira and the Canary Islands have sometimes been cited as possible matches. Modern ecology names these islands as Macaronesia.
