Ford Expedition

The Expedition is a large SUV from Ford Motor Company. Introduced in 1997 and refreshed for 2003, it fits between the Ford Explorer and Ford Excursion in the company's SUV lineup, offers 9-passenger seating, and a range of V8 engines. It is similar to the Lincoln Navigator, especially for 2004 with the introduction of the Limited trim line. One million Expeditions had been sold by 2004.

1997

The first Expedition was intended to compete with the Chevrolet Suburban, and replaced the full-sized Ford Bronco. Seating options ranged to nine passengers, and the Expedition could tow 8,000 lb (3,600 kg). The truck was refreshed in 1999 with more power and trim. Engine options:

2003

The 2003 Expedition shares the new Ford U platform for 8,300 lb (3,800 kg) towing and a more refined ride. A popular new feature is power folding third-row seats. The truck uses code U1 in the 5th and 6th positions of the VIN. Engine options: Expedition
