Football U-17 World Championship
The
Football U-17 World Championship
is the world championship of
football
for male players under the age of 17 and is organized by Fdration Internationale de Football Association (
FIFA
). The first edition was hosted by
China
in
1985
and was won by
Nigeria
. It has taken place in all odd-numbered years since, with
Brazil
leading the way with three wins. African countries have also been successful: both Nigeria and
Ghana
won the tournament twice. The age limit was switched from 16 to 17 starting in
1991
.
