Flibrige

The Flibrige is a literary and cultural association founded by Frdric Mistral and other Provenal writers to defend and promote the Provenal language and Provenal literature. It was founded on 21 May 1854 in Chteauneuf-de-Gadagne (Vaucluse), by Frdric Mistral, Joseph Roumanille, Thodore Aubanel, Jean Brunet, Paul Gira, Anselme Mathieu and Alphonse Tavan. The word flibrige is derived from flibre, a Provenal word meaning pupil or follower. Flibrige now promotes Occitan culture.
