Flamingo Land Theme Park And Zoo

Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo is an amusement park in Kirby Misperton, Malton, south of Pickering, in North Yorkshire. The Flamingo Park Zoological Gardens was founded in 1959 by Pentland Hick. In 1978, it was bought by Robert Gibb, who changed the name to Flamingo Land and developed the complex. After Robert's death in 1995, his son, Gordon, became Chief Executive. Gordon is also a former chair of Bradford City A.F.C.. It's most prominent rollercoasters have been Magnum Force (2000-2004) and The Bullet (1991-2004), although both of these attractions have been sold in advance of the 2005 season, when two new rollercoasters are expected to open. The complex also houses a zoo and a caravan park. In 2004, the park was the subject of a Yorkshire Television docusoap following the behind the scenes activities of management and workers. It particularly followed the development of the new water ride.
