Feather Of Truth

Feather of truth is an iconic image for the Egyptian goddess Maat. The feather appears in drawings of Maat sprouting up from the top of her head, and separately in texts as an ideogram for the goddess. The feather is shown in drawings of the after-death weighing of the heart ceremony being used by the gods as a reference weight on the scales: to pass the test, the heart of the newly dead had to be "light as a feather."
