Geography Evans City is located at 40°46'10" North, 80°3'41" West (40.769310, -80.061409). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,009 people, 819 households, and 548 families residing in the borough. The population density is 957.6/km² (2,476.1/mi²). There are 850 housing units at an average density of 405.2/km² (1,047.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 99.10% White, 0.15% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.35% from two or more races. 0.05% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 819 households out of which 31.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.1% are married couples living together, 10.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% are non-families. 28.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 3.02. In the borough the population is spread out with 24.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 97.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.0 males. The median income for a household in the borough is $41,128, and the median income for a family is $50,469. Males have a median income of $37,734 versus $24,306 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $18,931. 6.4% of the population and 4.0% of families are below the poverty line.
