Evangelion

The anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion is often refered as simply 'Evangelion'.
Evangelion (from Greek: ευαγγελιον - Euangelion) is Greek for "Good News". The word Evangelion is usually translated into English in religious contexts as gospel. A direct transliteration from the Greek would be "euaggelion", but the double gamma (γ) becomes pronounced as "ng". With the evolution of the Greek language after the Middle Ages, "eu" started to be pronounced as "ev". The English word evangelism comes from this word.
