Eurotas

Eurotas is the name of a river in the region of the Peloponnesus in Greece. It flows through the city of Sparta and empties into the Laconic Gulf. Historically, it was used as a transportation method by the Ancient Spartans as an alternative to their port located at Gytheion. Eurotas the brother of Lacedaemon was the father of Lacedaemon's wife, Sparta, according to Pausanias.
